Pearls have long been valued as a decorative embellishment, but they have also been prized for their ability to condition and perfect the skin. Nutrient-rich powder from ground pearls was used for a facial treatment in Egypt, China and Japan.
SCIENCE- Pearls act as a potent antioxidant, boosting the body's own enzymes and reducing peroxidation. Pearl also contains polysaccharides, 17 amino acids, minerals and proteins, including conchioline, which helps replenish and rebuild the skin’s natural collagen. HISTORY - Wisdom regarding pearls is far ahead of its time. It describes crushing the pearl into powder to be taken with tea, or mixed with water for a facial treatment. The Ama, female free divers, would dive up to 30 meters to collect the precious gem. PROVENANCE - Natural pearls are now such a rarity that x-ray examination is required to positively verify those that are not man-made. DID YOU KNOW? The name “pearl” stems from the Latin perna, meaning leg, after the leg-shaped bivalve from which it originates. In studies conducted at the Institute of Endocrinology at Zhejing Medical University in China, powdered sea pearl, mother-of-pearl, and freshwater pearl demonstrated systemic anti-aging and tonic actions. Other clinical studies in Japan and France have shown pearl powder to increase bone density and even aid in bone formation. Although natural pearls were traditionally used in making pearl powder, the lack of supply and the high cost of natural pearls resulted in the need for an alternative. Cultured pearls are not considered to be of the same medicinal quality as natural pearls, so Chinese technicians began to hydrolyze pearls - that is, to break their protein molecules down into their component parts. Users say the resulting amino acids are easier for cells to absorb and therefore more effective. Modern skin care companies - many of which specialize in herbal remedies - combine hydrolyzed pearl powder with herbal ingredients like green tea, gingko, and other extracts, as well as vitamins A, C, and E. This combination is used in creams and brightening lotions intended to rejuvenate dull, dry skin; reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; smooth and firm skin; regulate discoloration and scarring; and even reduce blemishes. PUFFY EYES....First things first. We’d like to avoid having them at all. The way to do that is:
1. Drinking some major H2O 2. Getting your beauty sleep 3. Taking your vitamins 4. Being born that way I am aware that some (if not all) of the things on this list cannot always be attained. I am also aware that (due to genetics) some of us (yes I said us, as in me too) could sleep for the rest of 2015 with an IV pumping fluids and vitamins into our veins and still be bagging and sagging...But no worries! In that case we move to damage control: Try Applying Something Cold to Your Eyes (frozen cucumber slices, cold teaspoons, or even potato slices) Get yourself a great Eye De-puffer. Our recommendations: The Oceane Eye Therapy Treatments- A rich, silky formula developed specifically to deliver immediate, noticeable results to the delicate skin around the eyes. It corrects existing fine lines, wrinkles, and under-eye circles and puffiness, as well as prevents future signs of aging. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin radiant and smooth. Whether it's bikini season or you just want soft, clean skin, exfoliating your skin from head to toe will get you glowing. Many women exfoliate their faces but forget about other body parts.
How to exfoliate Gather Exfoliation Products/Supplies: Exfoliating cleanser Body Scrub Loofah, body brush or exfoliating gloves Pumice stone Body lotion Instructions: 1. Before stepping into the shower, brush your dry skin with your loofah, body brush or exfoliating gloves. This will help remove the loose skin and prepare your skin for the exfoliating process. Begin with the soles of your feet, working your way up your body. 2. Get into the shower and wet your body from head to toe. Don't exfoliate your skin if you are sunburned or have any open cuts or wounds. 3. Use a pumice stone on your feet to eliminate rough spots and calluses. If your feet are extremely rough, soak them in a basin of warm water mixed with a cup of milk for 30 minutes before getting into the shower. 4. Apply your exfoliating cleanser to your loofah or gloves. Begin scrubbing your body in a circular motion starting with the bottoms of your feet and working your way up. When you reach the bikini area, don't scrub too hard because the skin is very sensitive. 5. Use a body brush to exfoliate your back and other hard-to-reach places. 6. Be gentle on your face, particularly around your eyes and mouth. Use an exfoliating product especially formulated for the face, which is gentler than products designed to be used on the body. 7. Don't forget about your hands. You want them to look and feel soft and smooth too! 8. Rinse your body with lukewarm water, and follow with the coldest water you can stand. Apply a shower gel to soften your skin, if you'd like. 9. After stepping out of the shower, apply a moisturizing body lotion all over. Body lotions and facial moisturizers containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids are ideal choices because these acids continue to remove dead skin cells. 10. Use body moisturizer once a day. Exfoliation is drying to the skin, so you must keep your skin hydrated.
How is handmade soap better for your skin?
Handmade soaps are made with the proper balance of cleansing and moisturizing properties. A well made bar of handmade soap, should clean well while also, leaving your skins natural oils in tact. Vintage Glam, Vintage Charm, Vintage Chic!! The LIPS Have it...
Lipstick shades may determine what kind of woman you’re telling the world you are. Red Rockers are deemed more creative and daring by others. They are also the most likely to be out of the house and at a bar on a Saturday night. They're most likely to exercise at least five times a week. Get it, girls! Pink lipstick wearers are perceived as more sociable and fun-loving. But pink is also the color of power: Senior executives are more likely to own a shade of pink, whereas more junior ladies wear plums or nudes. Plum puckers allow women to seem more independent and self-sufficient. Women who wear berry shades scored on the more mellow side of all survey questions, as they stay home on the weekends, rarely post selfies, and own the least number of shoes compared to other shade wearers. Nude lips help women seem more warm and caring, which is why psychologists recommend trying a nude shade for that first date or a night out with good friends. Plus, you get the perks of the women who wear lipstick most often (like more confidence) while emphasizing your natural coloring. 42 summer-ready easy updo hairstyles to try now presented by Glamour Magazine

Scrub Exfoliation is the first step on the beach-body checklist. It sloughs off rough skin, makes skin more receptive to other treatments and creates a smooth canvas for fake tan. The easiest and cheapest way is to use hand mitts and shower gel. Salt and sugar scrubs are oil-based, so don't use them right before applying fake tan as they'll get in the way of the formulation sticking. For sensitive skin, dry body brushing is recommended. "Use a natural-bristle brush and work in light strokes towards the heart. It lightly removes dead skin, increases circulation and has a detoxing action that treats cellulite." Bathe Washing can make skin dry out. Don't make the water too hot and use a gentle body wash. De-fuzz If you have pale skin and dark hair, consider laser for long-term hair removal. For this summer? Waxing remains an effective way to take hairs out from the roots. Shaving is even quicker and if you use a shaving oil you get smooth, silky-looking skin. Moisturise Body oils are protective and add a beautiful gleam. They suit most skins, but very dry types might prefer a balm with shea or cocoa butter. Glow Exfoliating regularly and massaging body oils into your skin is the best way to get a healthy glow. BONUS TIP: If the skin on your back is congested, try a "back facial" - a treatment offered at many salons that exfoliates and deeply cleanses this common problem area.
